Bring your own

On Chrome, I am clicking on bring my own device and it just gives error saying “Could not create device” I have a raspberry pi connected and working fine I just wanted to experiment with mqtt and see if I could get it to monitor a PH sensor (atlas scientific). Am I doing something out of order here? I thought I had read that I needed to create a new device and then send the data to that device over mqtt…

Hmm, that error should not be happening. This will sometimes randomly get
generated. Can you try to log out, refresh page, and try again?

I also had this once and I had to use another browser temporarily. I think after I rebooted it went back to normal, must be a cache issue.

Yep that was it, firefox went ahead and did it no prob!

I think this is an artifact of AWS (Amazon Web Services). I’ve seen issues like this before.

Once an a while, you just need to clear the cache. You can try Cntrl-F5, but if that doesn’t work, do the following in Chrome:

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. On your browser toolbar, tap More .

  3. Tap History, and then tap Clear browsing data.

  4. Under "Clear browsing data," select the checkboxes for Cookies and site data and Cached images and files.

  5. Use the menu at the top to select the amount of data that you want to delete. ...

  6. Tap Clear browsing data.

Cheers,
