I just saw the limited 14 units and 7 types in the client.py script and assumed these were all I had to work with. Can I edit the client.py and ‘install’ some more data types acceptable to the bigger list acceptable to the cayenne server ?

The data types in client.py are just special functions that you can use to send those specific data types while providing less parameters. If you click this link it will explain the difference between virtualWrite and something like celsiusWrite. I’ll also quote it below:

virtualWrite() expects a parameter format like:

virtualWrite(mqtt_channel_number, value, “type value”, “unit value”)

You may have noticed that we have shorter functions like luxWrite() that only need two parameters because they know the type and unit values already, but they are ultimately calling virtualWrite() and will not be covered here.
