Troubleshooting Pi Showing Up as Offline in Dashboard

I edited out the part in the first post of this thread calling about the ID entry in /etc/myDevices/AppSettings.ini, as this ID referred to an older system that we used to use that is now deprecated. It is in fact OK that your AppSettings.ini file has a blank ID= line.

I made some more edits, mostly formatting. It also stated that Jessie Lite is not supported, which it is now.

Hi everyone!

I’m new in Cayenne, I’d appreciate your patience

I was trying to connect my Raspberry Pi 2 B with cayenne, but the dashboard shows it is offline… I have checked the troubleshooting list and it’s strange that everything seems to be working (connections established, services running, config file, internet connection…).

I have tried installing and uninstalling several times, and I only get from the dashboard some variables (which are only refreshed once I press the reset dashboard button). Is that normal? I have the impression that everything’s running fine, but I’m making some noob mistakes… any ideas?

Thank you for taking the time to do a bit of trouble shooting yourself! You are right, this is not normal behavior for your Pi dashboard. What version of Raspbian are you using? The latest version from Raspberry Pi sight?

Adam, thanks for the reply.
Of course the Pi will work with any IP address. It’s the Cayenne App on my iPhone that seems to be having issues.

After tinkering with the App on the “other” network somehow the IP address changed and I was able to demonstrate the App to an associate. BUT when I came back to the initial network I could not get the Cayenne App to change back to the original IP address. The App would look or scan for the Pi but would not ever find it. Even when I typed in the IP address manually. I did look through your guide. However, after researching lots of other folks notes I decided to to add another single board device Pi and it went through the installation again. Sigh… I don’t think that should have happened BUT it did. Anyway I finally have 2 Pi’s in the App device menu each with different IP addresses. The device listing with my network IP addressing does work - BUT - I have not had to time to go to the other network to an test the second Pi listing.
