Unreachable issue - Add a widget to an offline device

I am using arduino Mega256 with W5200 ethernet shield
I am using Cayenne (via web)

Each time I try to use the dashboard I get the info "unreachable"
I used the Light switch example.
I see via the com communicator that the communication is established and OK, but still I get everytime the warning"Unreachable"
Question: what is the reason ?

Hi @bartallaert,

Try removing the widget that’s reading ‘unreachable’ and re-creating it on the Cayenne web dashboard (while the Arduino is online). Let me know if the new widget still reads ‘unreachable’.

Thanks for your reply.

But, …… I have still the same “unreachable “ error. ( see screenshot here after).

I did remove the widget as you mentioned ( for your info: I did it already 10 times before but without result)

I did reset everything, new dashboard, even I installed a new module (new token), and still I have the same problem.

In de serial monitor I see that I have a connected communication to the Cayenne site

I see also that via the virtual write V3 and V5 there are values which are sent to Cayenne and…. Still the dashboard is not picking up the values. I do not understand this.

Probably you will know what is wrong.

For your info: here after a screenshot of the serial monitor. I hope you can help me.

Hi @bartallaert,

Apologies for the delay in my response. I’ve edited out your password in these posts as this is a public forum. As they were up for several hours, I would recommend to change your password as soon as possible so no one else logs into your account. You can do so through this form: https://cayenne.mydevices.com/cayenne/forgot

I don’t know from these serial monitor logs exactly what the issue is, but I do see on your account that the device is (often) offline. I also cannot receive your attachment then the forum is emailed like this.

Perhaps you could email me at support@mydevices.com with an updated login/password and your sketch file used?

While I’m still working with Bartallaert on his issue via email, I wanted to add what I’ve found here for anyone else who might find this thread.

It appears that the ‘Unreachable’ widgets can be created through a bug in our UI. In short, you should not be able to add widgets to an offline Pi or Arduino. The UI even displays an error message. But then it proceeds to create a broken widget in this ‘Unreachable’ state. So if you are reading this, please verify the device you’re adding a widget to is seen by Cayenne as online, and then delete and re-create the widget while the device is online.

There may be other reasons for the ‘Unreachable’ error message, so if the above doesn’t fix it for you, please make a new thread.
