SSH dont know

Cant add pi i dont know ssh

What? You can see your ssid on connections setting

Welcome to Cayenne!

The username is pi and password is raspberry, unless you changed it.

And the default ssh port is 22 as well. Though I don’t think the iOS app should be prompting you to enter details if all 3 of these items are on their defaults. It’s still worth a shot though.

If that doesn’t do it, you should confirm whether SSH is actually running on your pi – I think in one of the recent OS updates they started disabling it if you leave the password of ‘raspberry’ since its a security risk. You can enable SSH if it’s currently disabled by running the command:

sudo raspi-config

then going to Advanced Options > SSH on the menus that appear. It will then display a menu where you can toggle the SSH server state and save settings.

how are you all, the same happens with me too, I’m using ipad … how to enable ssh to connect my pi on it? thanks for help

Hey @archimesta1983, welcome to the Cayenne Community.

You shouldn’t have to do anything on the iPad itself to enable SSH, just follow the instructions above to make sure it’s enabled on your Pi.

Keep in mind that if anyone reading this thread is having trouble with the app connecting to your Pi via SSH, you can just skip this by installing from Add New > Device/Widget > Single Board Computers > Raspberry Pi > Option 2 on the web dashboard as well. This will give you the commands that need to be input into the Pi so you can do it manually.

Should the field “SSH” be re-named “SSH Port Number”? I had a problem with this as well.

can you provide more details on your issue?

When a user adds a Raspberry Pi in the Cayenne app, s/he sees a window with three fields. Each field contains default text which, by convention, are hints to indicate what information the user should enter. “Username” and “Password” are fairly self-explanatory, but “SSH” is ambiguous. Does it mean that SSH is required? Does it mean that SSH is desired? Actually, it’s expecting the user to enter a number which 99% of the time should be the port designation for this service: “22”. Unless the user is a networking professional, the expectations around this field are not self-evident. I suggest changing the “SSH” hint to “SSH Port Number”.

sorry sir, but i am not able to reproduce this situation at my end where i get the option for entering the username, password and ssh.
there is a another way, where if you have access to the SD card, can you can add a SSH file into it and SSH is enabled Raspberry Pi Documentation - Remote Access. then you can add the pi IP address directly into the field and it will start installing the cayenne agent on the pi.
or if you can ssh using putty, then you can install the agent from the dashboard: Add New > Device/Widget > Single Board Computers > Raspberry Pi > Option 2 . This will give you the commands that need to be input into the Pi so you can do it manually.

I’m referring to the basic operation of the Cayenne app ios version.

yup, i know you are referring to cayenne IOS app, but can you give a try to the two options I suggested above.

I don’t have an issue with SSH. I’m only pointing out an improvement to the UX for the app.

thank sir. we will look into this and have it fixed.
