Great thanks I think it will be fine then as it is on a belt with bearings it takes no effort at all even with the camera mounted to run along the bed,

I will order the nema 17 as you described and will let you know how we progress.

well good news wired up the new boards and Nema 17 and hey presto it all seems to be working fine .Thanks all for your help with this.
