Problems with DS18B20 widget with Firefox/Chrome

Hi all,
I developed a simple project with Cayenne using a Raspberry PI 2B with two GPIO controlling a couple of relais and a DS18B20 monitoring the temperature of my laboratory.
I access my project both from the Android App on my smartphone/tablet and from my PC using Firefox and Chrome; I observe that the project works very well when I access it from the App, but it works only in part when I access it using Firefox and Chrome: in this case the GPIOs work very well, but the DS18B20 widget doesn’t activate/update at all!
Is this a known limitation/issue of MyDevices with Firefox/Chrome?
Thanks!

Hi @aseltronix,

What specifically is not activating / updating? You mean you cannot see the DS18b20 widget at all on your dashboard?

Myself and @akaranfilian just tested here and data is displaying from ds18b20, so we need more info to try and help you

It’s not a limitation of Cayenne with Firefox/Chrome, it’s a bug related to the DS18B20 widget that we have on our hotlist to fix. I will update here (and a few more threads) as soon as we push a fix for this. It will also be in the release notes in the Announcements category on this forum.

I should add that I was talking about a bug we’ve seen with saving settings for the DS18B20 widget on the web dashboard (regardless of browser). But what you are describing here may not be just that.

So I’m still interested in the answers for what @bestes asked, as well as were you originally created the widget (if you remember) – was it via the Android app, or the web dashboard interface?

Not directly related as I am using Pi but I found it was just after the history / csv download date. I went to give it a spin change my temp senor to Deg C and things may have worked to Deg C about once. But the main bug looks like clicking the Save button nothing happens and everything everything slowed down Big time after that. Can click off the screen to something else. I have deleted all off the dashboard and re flashing several Pi: B, B+ Pi 2 and a Pi 3 from clean formatted cards up at present. I have these all sitting side by side and can look into them with Filezilla etc if you want me to fish out anything. Don’t mind sharing login if you want to look from your end just e-mail sep / direct.

Here is the Pi B I just re started from fresh card format and Jessie and clean install. When it started up on the dashboard it had a DS18B20 (residual from your end ? ) still on the screen even though there was no DS18B20 connected to the GPIO.

Putting a DS18B20 back onto the Pi B works nicely and promptly as it should.

The dashboard is responding reasonably well (speed) now but still nothing happens after the save button is clicked under DS18B20 > Settings

Hi @Rsiegel,

I created the widget with Firefox and I noted that it is impossible to save the modified setting from the PC; now I have the widget in my dashboard but it is locked with a “-“ as temperature value when I access it by Firefox/Chrome and, moreover, it is also not clickable (it appears as disabled). However it works well if I connect to the dashboard by the Android App.

I also note that there are some problems with timestamping of the temperature samples when I choose to see the chart on a daily/weekly/monthly basis: the “resolution” of the timestamps is not enough (at least in my opinion, of course), because, as an example, on a daily basis there all today’s samples are simply marked as “Sept 29”.

Thank you for your answer.

Francesco
